Booking & General
How do I book a session?
Simply fill out our contact form, call us at (224) 250-5256, or send us a message on Instagram @idtphoto. We'll get back to you within 24 hours to discuss your session, answer questions, and lock in a date.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 4–8 weeks in advance for family and maternity sessions. For newborn sessions, we suggest booking during your second trimester (around 20 weeks) — newborns are photographed in the first 5–14 days of life, so we schedule around your due date and confirm once baby arrives.
Where are you located?
Our studio is located in Aurora, IL. We serve the entire Chicagoland area including the suburbs, Fox Valley, and the city of Chicago. We also offer on-location sessions throughout the region.
How long will my session take?
Session length varies by type. Newborn sessions typically run 2–4 hours (newborns set the pace!). Family and maternity sessions are 1–2 hours. Corporate headshot sessions are 1 hour per person or group. We never rush.
What is your cancellation policy?
Life happens — especially with little ones. We're flexible and happy to reschedule sessions due to weather, illness, or unexpected circumstances. Just give us a heads up as early as possible.
Newborn Photography
When should I schedule my newborn session?
The best window for posed newborn photography is within the first 5–14 days of life. Newborns are sleepiest and most flexible during this time. We book during your pregnancy and schedule the actual date after your baby arrives.
What should I bring to the newborn session?
Just your baby! We provide all outfits, wraps, blankets, and props — many of which are handmade by Jane. You're welcome to bring any special items you'd like included (a favorite toy, family heirloom, etc.).
Are your newborn outfits and props handmade?
Yes! Jane personally sews, crochets, and knits many of our newborn outfits, wraps, and blankets. David also builds many of our custom wooden props — benches, boxes, and platforms — by hand. These are truly one-of-a-kind pieces you won't find anywhere else.
Is the session safe for my newborn?
Absolutely. Safety is always our top priority. We maintain a warm, comfortable studio environment, we never force poses, and we always have a parent or guardian close by. David and Jane are highly experienced — over 10,000 children photographed.
Maternity Photography
When is the best time for a maternity session?
Most maternity sessions are scheduled between 28–36 weeks of pregnancy — when your bump is beautifully full but you're still comfortable and mobile. If you have a specific look in mind, let us know and we'll find the ideal timing.
What should I wear for a maternity session?
We'll send you a full wardrobe guide after booking. In general, flowy gowns, form-fitting dresses, and solid colors photograph beautifully. Our studio also has a selection of maternity gowns you're welcome to use at no extra charge.
Can my partner or family be included?
Absolutely — and we encourage it! Partners, other children, and even pets are all welcome in your maternity session.
Family Portraits
Do you work with children on the autism spectrum?
Yes, and this is something we're especially proud of. We are experienced, calm, and patient with children of all needs — including those on the autism spectrum. We take our time, follow the child's lead, and never push. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare the ideal environment.
Can we bring our pet to the session?
Pets are part of the family! We welcome friendly, leashed pets in our sessions. Just let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly.
What should we wear for our family portraits?
We recommend coordinated (not matching) outfits — colors in the same palette work beautifully. Avoid loud patterns or logos. Solid colors and neutral tones photograph best. We'll send a wardrobe guide after you book.
Corporate Headshots
Do you come to our office for team photos?
Yes! We offer both in-studio headshot sessions at our Aurora location and on-location team shoots at your office or preferred venue. We can accommodate groups of any size.
How long does a corporate headshot session take?
Individual headshots take about 15–20 minutes per person in-studio. We can photograph an entire team efficiently with minimal disruption to your workday. Group team photos vary by team size.
What should I wear for a corporate headshot?
Business professional or business casual typically photographs best. Solid colors, classic cuts, and well-fitted clothing are ideal. Avoid very bright colors, large patterns, or heavily reflective fabrics. We'll send a detailed prep guide before your session.
How quickly will I receive my images?
We deliver your final edited gallery within 2–3 business days via Pic-Time, our professional gallery delivery platform. You'll have 90 days to download your images.
